Feeding The Hungry

Love Feasts

We volunteer twice a year in a rotation with other city churches to prepare and serve free meals to the needy. In conjunction with providing these free meals, we prepare and distribute take-home snack bags.

Harvest Home

During the month of October, parishioners bring non-perishable food to church. Circle of Hope then augments these donations and the food is delivered to various local food banks, soup kitchens and non-profit nursing homes.

Designated Benevolence

During Sunday services, a benevolent second offering is collected. This offering is dedicated each month to meet the specific needs of a deserving project. These have included a non-profit teen center, children’s hospital, food banks, men’s and women’s shelters and other non-profit groups, as well as specific needs within our church.

Children & Families At Christmas

Each Christmas, we help a local charity in its mission to provide assistance and gifts to needy families at Christmas.

Thrivent Financial

As a member church of the North Blair Chapter of Thrivent Financial, our Congregational Advocate (Deborah Thomas) may request a portion of Thrivent Financial’s Care in Communities charitable funds. First Lutheran has been successful in obtaining supplemental Thrivent funds that add to the proceeds from our church’s many benevolent fundraising efforts. Note that Thrivent Financial is a fraternal benefit society. Learn more from local Thrivent Financial Advisor Andrea Paul, FIC at (814) 695-3496 or online at www.thrivent.com
